Samsung Hacks -- Thu, Nov 10 2005 05:42AM
First, let me precede this posting by saying I have a Samsung SCH-A670 (as in the photo), and I have tried these codes on the A650, and the new A950, and they worked on both models. Also, I am on Verizon, and I know the way Telus sets up the phones is a bit different.

Get rid of Verizon banner:

Free WAP:

Press ok and go into Gateway, then ok the address, Then ok Address 1.
In A put in the IP and save it. Hit back and go into Port, then port 1,
and set Port A to the port and save. Any of the below should work. The last two on the list are the most heavily trafficked, and usually slow or down as a result.

24.3.27.144 port 9201
194.204.12.42 port 9201
66.36.250.14 port 9200 or 9201

Just a warning here, your phone has a built in amplifier, which it uses to play ring tones and other non-button related sounds. You can fry it, I know, because I did. So careful with these.

FULL PHONE RESET:
Warning, if you do this, you will lose all of your contacts, saved messages, photos, etc. It is essentially a format and reinstall.

47*68#13580 and then hit #73.
The phone will seem to freeze.
When the . appears hit #02 to reset the phone.
dial *228 to d/l the software from Verizon to restore your phone settings

I did this and needed to update my phones NAM in the NAM menu (this auto checks everything then reboots your phone). After that I could recieve calls, but couldn't make them. I called Verizon and they had to reactivate it on their end, their servers were no longer recognizing my phone. All in all it took about 15 minutes, and still didn't fix the problems with my phone. But it has worked for others, or so I hear.

Also, none of these work on my Samsung E335 :(

- xor, Thu, Nov 10 2005 06:54AM

Haha, yeah it was 8:42am when I posted that. It's now 9:57am, and I am still not fully awake.

- Whiskey, Thu, Nov 10 2005 06:57AM

Type ONLY 99, NEVER EVER EVER EVER TYPE 29 IT WILL KILL YOUR PHONE.
This part is my favorite. You probably should put a similar message next to 29 = Build EEPROM at the top. Did you really mess up your EEPROM, or is this from the guy you copied it from?

- cheezus, Mon, Nov 14 2005 06:20AM

This was copied and edited from a message board posting on howardforums.

- Whiskey, Mon, Nov 14 2005 12:35PM

So you're freely admitting to blatant plagiarism?

- xor, Mon, Nov 14 2005 12:37PM

I think it was implied. We all know Whiskey is illiterate.

- sonuvbob, Mon, Nov 14 2005 01:07PM

Poor guy... the only words he knows how to read are "copy" and "paste".

- cheezus, Mon, Nov 14 2005 01:33PM

You guys are mean to whiskey.

askdf893942r78 "copy" 43o9jdf9& "paste" 393 3igbld, dosaopp4e.

Now how does that make you feel?

- Artem, Mon, Nov 14 2005 01:59PM edited Mon, Nov 14 2005 02:01PM

Poor guy... the only words he knows how to read are "copy" and "paste".

let us not forget "drink"

- doughboy, Mon, Nov 14 2005 02:05PM

That Artem sure knows some big words!

- sonuvbob, Mon, Nov 14 2005 02:11PM

Nice try Artem. I know numbers when I see them!

Actually, this information was compiled by me. It comes from a bunch of different posts on howard forums, and yahoo! samsung group. I also converted it from the numerical number system to the names, because menu-7-5-0 on my phone, is different than the A650, etc. I originally compiled this list for Nick so he could hack his new Samsung once he got to Florida. I figured I might as well post it on igo for the rest of us.

- Whiskey, Tue, Nov 15 2005 05:33AM

I have a samsung a950. How do you get into the secret menu???
"
Get rid of Verizon banner:

"
where do you type it????? Plz help. Ive searched everywhere... thnx allot!!!

- maisam, Tue, Dec 6 2005 11:00PM

That probably doesn't work with the a950. These hacks are for the a670 and a650. I tested a few of them out on the a950, those few worked. If you want real answers go to http://www.howardforums.com. It's a message board dedicated to cell phone hacking.

- Whiskey, Wed, Dec 7 2005 05:07AM

So Whiskey, which of these did work on a Samsung a950?

...and where do I type these codes in? If I type them and hit "send" it tries to call that number.

- queasyfish7, Thu, Feb 23 2006 08:00AM

- OK, I figured out "where"...

- queasyfish7, Thu, Feb 23 2006 09:51AM

I don't know how many work on the 950. Almost all of them should since it runs on a very similar platform. Some of the codes tuned for the 670 wont.

If you want more info check http://www.howardforums.com

- Whiskey, Thu, Feb 23 2006 10:30AM

This Does'nt Work On My SCH-A890, when i hit 47*68#13580 "Menu FTM" shows up, after that i have to pull my batt. out

- rstoplabe, Tue, Mar 14 2006 06:28PM

That's supposed to happen. This is when you chose from the long list above. It doesn't sound like you know what you're doing, so if you fry your phone, don't blame me.

- Whiskey, Wed, Mar 15 2006 05:21AM

Because I kepted reading "don't press 29", guess wat I did? I pressed 29!!!! So how did I fix my phone?? I did a phone reset (#73) then *228 to activate the phone again. Good thing is I restored my phone. Sucky thing is, I lost all my info. Better than nothing, I suppose.

- Mojo, Wed, Apr 5 2006 08:24PM

Haha, moron. Didn't you think messing with the EEPROM would be bad? You do know what the EEPROM is, right?

Next time download a copy of bitpim and backup your phone.

- Whiskey, Thu, Apr 6 2006 06:17AM

umm...not that i'm trying to hack my phone or nothing, but what is eeprom? heh heh

- desertroguex, Sun, Apr 9 2006 05:15PM

The overview here should pretty much cover it. I hate it when people call it "E-squared PROM".

- cheezus, Sun, Apr 9 2006 08:49PM

for all you guys that had to push #29, wait untill the phone reboots. when it does push 47#68*13580 and then push #73. after that reboots, dial *228 and download the activation stuff from verizon. your welcome

- obogobo, Mon, Apr 10 2006 02:49PM

True. However when I did that (on purpose mind you, i killed my audio amp chip and was hoping it was software and not hardware) I had to call verizon afterward as it was the only outgoing number I could dial without getting a "your phone does not have a recognized id on our network" message. Calling Verizon took two minutes to reset my phones id on their network. It was fun explaining what I had done to the tech guy on the other end.

- Whiskey, Tue, Apr 11 2006 06:39AM edited Tue, Apr 11 2006 07:37AM

well i kind of screwed up my phone by pushing that #54 carrier id thing. now it wont get any service and it changed my lock code to something other than the last 4 #'s of my phone number. any ideas?

- obogobo, Sun, Apr 16 2006 05:25PM

Hey i was wondering if you knew how to hack Locked Phones. If you dont know the number.

- Hey., Sun, Apr 16 2006 09:40PM

obogobo Your first step would be castration, to secure my faith in the future of humanity. After that, try calling your service provider.

Hey By "locked" I would assume you mean the fact that certain phone models only work on some networks, and you can unlock them to work on any network. However, judging by the relative stupidity of other anonymous posters, I'm going to instead assume you mean locked menus with a code you don't know. Try the last 4 digits of your phone number, or all zeros.

- Whiskey, Mon, Apr 17 2006 06:15AM

Hello Whiskey,
I appreciate your posting the Samsung phone hacking method here. I have a Samsung a950 with verizon, and I tried the hacking method you specified in the post here, but had difficulty getting into any of them. I typed 47*68#13580 on the screen and nothing popped up. Should I press any other button before typing in 47*68#13580? Thanks in advance for your help!

- Kevin, Wed, Apr 19 2006 09:36AM

Kevin, the phone I have, the SCH-a670 is an old model now. It is possible Samsung has changed the code. When I last tested it, it worked on the a950. To be honest, this code doesn't do much other than let you play with some settings, nothing great. The real deal is in the free internet hack I posted.

Your best resource at this point would be http://www.howardforums.com.

- Whiskey, Thu, Apr 20 2006 06:29AM

Hello Whiskey,
Appreciate your input. I mean: truly appreciate your help. I think other people who benefit from your posting will have the same feeling. I currently pays about $100/month for Verizon cell bill, and don't feel I should let them take more of my money. Plus, I only use the internet occasionally to check for map/direction, there is no point for paying $5.00 on each of my phones.
Talking about free internet, that's the thing I most want. But not sure how to set it up in my a950. I have search extensively in howardforum, and also with google, but so far couldn't find any info. of value teaching me how to set up free WAP. Could you possibly give a a lead? Thanks for all your help!

- Kevin, Fri, Apr 21 2006 02:27PM

The Free Wap section is pretty much how I did it on my old SCH-a530, but I haven't found a way to change the gateway or port on my wife's SCH-a850. I think the 850 and 950 are identical except for the stereo speakers, bluetooth, and Vcast. Any known way to change the gateway now?

- Whiskey, Thu, May 11 2006 01:25PM edited Thu, May 11 2006 01:25PM

what can you do if by chance you change the setting of the wr batt to 002 instead of 169.what happens is this the phone turns on but will not stay on,so you can not get back into the test menu.please help

- lee, Sat, May 13 2006 09:23AM

You have to reset the phone, which you can do by bridging the proper battery terminals. In order to NOT fry your phone, I would highly suggest taking it to a verizon (or whatever) store, and have them do it. I hope you backed up your phone book using bitpim or something.

- Whiskey, Mon, May 15 2006 06:50AM

I took off the Verizon wireless banner on my a650...but then It says a stupid Extended network thing...Is there anyway to take off the EN thing and get back plain old verizon wireless back cuz I like that better!

- Eli, Fri, May 26 2006 05:32PM

how do you save specific settings such as led color? i cant save it T.T

- yimmee, Sun, May 28 2006 10:53PM

Is there any way I can unsubscribe from this fine post?

- xor, Tue, May 30 2006 05:19AM

Comments now only open to igo users. That should do it.
