Short Hair! Tue, Jan 30 2007 06:17PM
| | Many of you may remember the disasterous senior year haircut. The one Meredith talked me into on a Saturday morning...well, it's been about 6 years, and I got the idea to do it again, this time, though, I took the hair home and will be sending it to Locks of Love http://www.locksoflove.org/
So far, not as disasterous. Though she did dry it straight for me, so it'll be a few washes until my hair tries to get out of control again...it's fun for now, so it may stay this way : ) |

One Big Happy Family Wed, Jun 28 2006 06:51AM
| | | This is Sambuca, Tibu, and Zibby hanging out on the back deck. Sammy, it didn't seem, could take a rest from trying to eat the kitties for this picture. Crazy dog! Can you believe he's only 6-7 mo. old? And already 50+ pounds?! He may hit 100! He already chewed through his puppy harness. Hopefully he'll fit into the next size up so we don't have to buy a harness he'll outgrow. |

| | | Ok, so I'm going through my pictures to fianlly post from the last 3 months and I come across this picture. I think it's my brother-in-law passed out on our bathroom floor during the World Cup. Mahk takes pictures of the strangest things. I was stuck taking the PRAXIS II in La Plata, MD : ( |

Congrats to Helen! Wed, Jun 28 2006 06:38AM
| | | Helen graduated from JMU! We had a rousing game of beer pong afterwards in which Jim and I beat everyone, including Mark and his dad! Nothing like showing up the Brits at a drinking game! |

Sambuca on a walk Wed, Jun 7 2006 06:30PM
| | | Sammy loves going on walks. He cries if he walks me halfway to the metro and then Mark walks him back home. : ( But with June 14th only days away, he won't be home alone all day for long : ) (well, until August 14, but we'll deal with that when it comes!) |

New doggie! Wed, Jun 7 2006 06:28PM
| | | This is our new doggie on the car ride home from Annapolis. We got him through Lab Rescue (www.lab-rescue.org). He was with a wonderful foster family. He is around 6 months old and 50 pounds! The vet thinks he'll end up being around 80 pounds. He's still very puppy-like, sort of wobbly on his legs. Only problem so far: he chases the cats and tries to play with them like he does the dogs at the dog park (unfortunately they don't like his jaws around their necks). We're working on that...Tibu swatted him pretty well! |

New Kitties! Mon, Mar 20 2006 06:07PM
| | | So after the disappointment with Nica and Vera, we were very excited when the shelter called today to say there are 2 new kittens available and they would hold them for us until 8pm. We went in and I knew looking through the glass they were coming home! They are fiestier (sp?) than Nica and Vera and have the coloring of good old Gizmo, may he rest in peace. They purr loudly and prefer to be held not like a baby, but over your shoulder so they can look around. We're not sure how Kisses will react because these girls have teeth and claws and don't seem to be afraid of much! They also chase each other's tails, so this could be amusing! A representative from the animal shelter is coming to our house on Saturday to make sure this will be a good fit and to teach us about cats (ok, teach Mark about cats because they told me our application is really good since I had cats my whole life). If we pass, we get the cats! And they are letting us wait to spay them, which is good because I was nervous about the stiches around the dog. We'll just wait until Kisses goes back to Pittsburgh in a few weeks to get them spayed . So, what will we name them? They are currently named Ruby and Saphire. I think we should start a contest. Suggest some names! Winner gets, I dunno, an autographed picture of the cats! |

Nica Sat, Mar 18 2006 12:56PM
| | | This is the one we first fell in love with. We asked about the adoption process and ended up filling out an application so we could be next on the list (she has a hold on her until tomorrow, 3/19). As we were talking to the supernice people at the SPCA, Nica's sister woke up (she was sleeping when we met Nica) and put her paws up against the glass into the office (their cage is right up next to the window) and looked at us. Then the SPCA told us that Vera, the sister, had a hold on her, but it just ran out, so she was available. They were going to set it up so that they would hold Vera and then if Nica DID get adopted, we would adopt Vera, but if Nica's hold ran out we would adopt Nica. But then we felt that if Nica didn't get adopted, we would be leaving Vera behind and they might be lonely. So we decided that in that case we'd adopt both cats. So then Mark pointed out that either way we would have Vera, so we signed for Vera and are waiting to hear back about Nica. I am so excited! They are 3 months old and very active and loving. They love to be petted, in the Acton tradition of petting-slut cats : ) Now we just have to wait for the home visit (they make sure we're not psychopaths and that we are fit parents) and cross our fingers for Nica! |

Our Backyard! Sat, Feb 25 2006 07:13AM

Halloween! Sat, Feb 25 2006 07:00AM
| | | Mark dressed up and scared quite a few of the under-5 crowd. Kisses darted out the door at one point, causing a young teen to run down the street shouting, "Don't go to that house! They have a dog!" Luckily no one's dad came to beat up Mark : ) |

Kisses loves the car Fri, Sep 16 2005 06:52PM
| | | If we accidentally let her into the garage in the morning we have a heck of a time getting her out of the car so we can get to work. At Laura's house, she even jumped through an open window and slept in the back seat of Jay's car! |

Our New House Fri, Sep 16 2005 04:50PM
| | | ...in Nova. I'm learning that marriage is lots of compromise. Like moving 5 minutes from your husband's work and having a 40min metro ride + 30 min walking each way. Knock on wood it has not rained yet this school year. I hope it's not a bad winter! | | 1 comment |
